Q If you configure the Deyer Ongrid inverter for export blocking mode using the Cape Town standard prepaid meter have the be any issues with this to your knowledge?A
Hi There, No there have been no issues.
Q What is power capability of both output ports, essential and non-essential? Essential is 5KW and Non-essential up to 35A? If PV for example supply 5000W and essential loads draw 2000W, would 3000W be supplied to the non-essential loads? If for this example the non-essential load is 4000W, would the remaining 1000W be supplied by the grid?A
Hi There, your understanding of the inverter is correct. Please bear in mind that this machine is maxed at 5kW and cannot handle any more than that.
Q Are both sets of PV inputs combined and supply the full power to all the load, or does one PV input supply the essentials load and the 2nd PV input supply the non-essential loads?A
Hi There, essential and non-essential loads are not related to the PV Input. The max PV input for this inverter is 6500W, therefore each MPPT can be 3250W per string.
Q Hi, can I connect 12 x 330 watts panels to this inverter without any need of solar controller or combiner?A
Hi, you will just need a DC disconnector, this inverter has a built-in controller already.
Q Hello,I have an 8kw deye hybrid inverter with panels and batteries, is it good to have air conditions, refrigerator and washing machine connected to the inverter and always supplied by the solar ?A
Hi, depending on the rating of those appliances and if you have it running while you have solar power available it will work fine, I would suggest using our Online Calculator and working out what you will be running to check if the inverter size will be sufficient.
Q Hi, does this inverter handle the surge current of an inductive pool motor? My total power needs from the inverter would be around 3.5kw including the pool motor (1kw). The data sheet indicates that the inverter can handle surges of double the max wattage for 10seconds, therefore this inverter should be okay for my needs? My question is, since the pool motor switches on once per day everyday, is this strain okay on the inverter?A
Hi, this inverter is perfect for your needs, it can take on motors and heating elements.
Q I have 2 x Point of sale tills, some lights, toaster, and 1 x fryer (3ph) and extraction fan also 3 phase. What size inverter can I run? No solar panels allowed.A
We don't have a 3 phase in this model sorry.
Q Can you advise what solar app I can use for monitoring my Deye 5k Hybrid inverter and how to connect to the WiFi in the inverter?A
Hi, you can use the Solarman app for this, it will have instructions on how to connect to it.
Q Does this inverter have UPS capability? (There is reference above to UPS but also a 200 ms reaction time)A
Q Please confirm what would be the best suitable replacement Inverter for my Axpert MS5kv ? Had two replacements in 6 mnths !!! Apparently motherboard failure.A
Hi Johan, it sounds like your load might be too much for the inverter to handle, this Hybrid inverter will certainly solve this problem. My suggestion would be to use the online calculator to make sure you're not exceeding that 5kW. https://solaradvice.co.za/online-solar-system-calculator/
Q Hi I’ve installed a 8kw deye inverter system I have a 10kw backup Genatator that is on an ATS system can I connect it to the Genatator port on the inverter it has a constant 230 power supply on the inverter will it do any damage to the inverterA
Hi, you can add your generator as the inverter has an AC input, you will need to ensure that it doesn't exceed the maximum capacity of the inverter.
Q where can i find the mobile app for the deye 5kWh inverter and what monitoring app would work best?A
Hi, the app that you can use is the Solarman app, here is the link to the Android App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.igen.rrgf&hl=en_ZA and here is the iOS app https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/solarman-2-0/id1269498647
Q If for some reason I need 8kw power, will the inverter be able to use the grid power for that or is the max power available 5kw from any source?A Hi, do you mean if your load was 8kW? If so then I would recommend the Deye 8kW to cater for that size load.
Q Could you please give me a rough estimate of the total cost to run a home. Ave usage of electricity is R1700 pm. What would you suggest as the most cost effective.A Hi Jannie, please take a look at our Online Calculator to determine what your needs are with regards to solar power. If I had to take a stab in the dark (pun intended), I would imagine you would need to look at a 5kW - 8kW inverter.
Q What are the main differences between a Deye and Sofar inverter when comparing reliability, nr of optional settings, performance and ease of use etc when comparing similar spec for medium household use?A Hi, they are both great machines and good quality, I would personally go for a Deye because the Sofar has only half the backup limit, meaning you can only run around 3kW worth of appliances from your storage. This might be enough for most people as 3kW is a large battery bank. I have a Sofar, it's good when set up with a compatible battery, if you need the extra 1kW of power from your solar array then this would be a better choice. The Deye has been a very popular choice and we haven't had any real issues with it. Hope that helps.
Q On the deye 5kw inverter with the 2 mppt ports, can you connect two arrays of pv panels, one per port? Do they both have 460V/11Amp capability?A Hi, yes you can have 2 arrays with this Hybrid inverter.
