Questions & Answers
Follow up question to Hannes, above.
How can a 8kW inverter handle 60 amps output at 220v? Surely that is a mistake, and max output is about 35 amps?
If one wanted to move off grid at a later stage, what would be required - must the inverter be switched against an off-grid unit, or can this also be configured as off grid?

The information is correct and can be checked on the Fusion 8kW Datasheet - https://solaradvice.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Fusion2-8kw-datasheet-02.pdf
To be completely off-grid it would require you to install a big enough solar array and have a sufficient battery bank backup to not need any load requirements from the grid. The Fusion 8kW Hybrid can do this for you

Hi Deon, you can use this inverter with the BlueNova batteries; however, there are no comms, so you'd have to use user-defined settings to make the system function. You would most definitely be able to use your current array with this inverter.
Is it better to buy 3 x 5kw inverters or 2 x 8kw. I am looking for future failures and replacement unit costs if something has to happen. I have a 60amp incoming breaker and possibly need around 12kw.
Also what are the benefits of the different options, and if i also want to add more capacity.

Hi, you can do either, but 2 x 8kW would be a better call. Do you have a single or three-phase?
Hi, what is the difference between these smart hybrid inverters vs normal hybrid inverters (for e.g., growatt) which costs much less. Also, if the demand exceeds 8KW, can it draw from the grid or does it switch off?

Hi There, the CT clamp will prevent any energy going back into the grid to fit this you will need to contact your solar installer as we are unable to give installation instructions legally
A question based on the example you gave with the 330watt panels. The deye has 2 mppts rated at 18amps each and 4 strings rated at 370v. The amps of a 410watt panels is 10amps for example. If i have 8 panels on each string on a single mppt does it mean that the amps pushed to the Mppt is 20amps. So with the 330watt panels. I believe the total amps per string will over 18amps. Is this safe long term. I am considering a 8kwh deye and possibly 20 x Canadian solar 410watt panels. Concerned on the amps. Wanted to setup 3 strings of 6 panels each.

Hi There, for this inverter what is recommended is to have 2 strings of 9 panels wired in series per 1 MPPT, if you have 400W 10amp solar panels with 41V each, this will give you a total of 369V and keep the amps the same (10amps). This will total of 18 panels
I’m about to buy a 8kW hybrid inverter. I was thinking of the Synsync inverter. I note the Deye has pretty similar features. What is the best hybrid inverter in this size according to you with similar functionality?
I’m also considering the 9.6kWh Dyness Battery in combination with this. I have been running about 6kW of solar panels grid-tied for a while and now wish to add the batteries and perhaps some more panels in future.

Good day Hannes
1. Yes the inverter can handle 60A
2. The inverter will use the solar to run the loads, execess PV will be used to charge the batteries.
3. Yes it does. You can also place a CT clamp to stop any feedback.
4. The max PV (Wattage) that the inverter can take it 10400W with an input voltage of 370V.
So if you use the 330W CNBM panels it will work out to:
7 panels per string per string and up to 4 strings.
This will give you a voltage per string of 329V and total PV array of 9240W
5.These inverters are compatible with the Pylon tech lithium batteries and work in comms
6. The multiple plus is a 5kVA machine so the Deye is a stronger unit. The Deye has all the components built into the inverter.
The Victron systems are great systems however there are more components that are needed in the system which makes it more
complex and more expensive overall.
7. Hi Hannes what are your requirments for the system. With out knowing this it is difficult for us to tell you what the best
option is for you.
You can make use of our calculator to get an idea of the size of inverter, battery backup and panels needed.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
