Grid Tied Inverters

Grid tied Inverters

Grid tied inverters consists of renewable energy (solar / wind etc) being fed directly to an inverter that can be shared between the load usage or fed into the grid for sale. It has no battery storage in this setup allowing excess energy to go into the grid.

In solar, the battery storage is the Achilles due to its expense and lifespan therefore can be a first choice when aiming to move towards energy efficiency.

Grid-tied inverters convert DC energy into AC power and needs to match the voltage of the grid and maintain a slightly increased voltage at any one time.

Properly configured, a grid tie inverter enables a home owner to use an alternative power generation system like solar or wind power without extensive rewiring and without batteries. If the alternative power being produced is insufficient, the deficit will be sourced from the electricity grid.
